The analysis and conclusions are Token Metrics’ own.

Suppose Nvidia moves over the weekend and you want exposure before Nasdaq reopens. Bitget may let you buy rNVDA with USDT on Saturday.

That convenience is real. So is the catch: you are buying a token linked to Nvidia, not a normal Nvidia share.

Best for: eligible users who already hold USDT and value weekend access.

Main catch: no direct registered share ownership or normal voting rights.

Our verdict: useful as a convenience product, weaker as a replacement for a brokerage account.

The simple version

An rToken is a token designed to follow the price of a U.S. stock or ETF. Bitget lists products such as rNVDA and rTSLA in USDT trading pairs, so users can trade them without first moving money into a brokerage account.

Several companies sit behind the trade. BG El Salvador issues the token. Reality Protocol runs the token system and publishes product and reserve information. Reality’s documents identify Alpaca Securities as the broker that buys and holds the referenced securities. Bitget runs the market where most users buy and sell.

That setup is what makes the product work. It is also why an rToken has more moving parts than a normal stock trade.

Why use it? If most of your money already sits in a crypto account, buying a token can be faster than moving cash to a broker and waiting for the U.S. market to open. It also keeps the trade in USDT, which may be more convenient for someone who actively moves between crypto and stock-linked positions.

Think of an rToken as a convenience layer around stock exposure, not as a digital copy of the share itself.

The part that matters: you do not own the share

Reality calls an rToken a “contractual beneficial interest.” In plain English, the token is designed to pass along the stock’s price movement and eligible dividend payments, but your name is not placed on Nvidia’s shareholder register and you do not get normal voting rights.

If all you want is price exposure, that may be enough. If you want the cleanest ownership claim, standard brokerage statements, and familiar investor protections, it is not the same product.

An rToken can follow a stock without turning the tokenholder into a normal shareholder.

Weekend access is real, but the stock market is still closed

Bitget supports weekend trading for a selected list of rTokens. Nvidia itself is not trading on Nasdaq at that time. Weekend prices come from market-maker quotes anchored partly to Friday’s close and whatever happened after the bell.

That creates a useful option and a new risk. You can trade the token while Nasdaq sleeps, but you are trading a market maker’s weekend quote, not a live Nvidia share price. Spreads can widen, trading can thin out, and the token may jump when the U.S. market reopens.

Use a limit order. Before buying rNVDA on Saturday, compare the quote with Nvidia’s Friday close and decide how much extra you are paying for early access.

The four catches to check before buying

1. The full costDo not stop at Bitget’s trading fee. Add the spread, slippage, USDT conversion, withdrawal or network fees, and any margin costs. Entry and exit both count.

2. Weekend pricingA market maker may protect itself with a wider quote while U.S. exchanges are closed. A cheap-looking entry can become expensive once the spread is included.

3. What the reserve page provesReality publishes a Proof of Asset dashboard. It is useful, but the page itself says it is not an audit, review, or attestation. It does not answer every question about what happens if an intermediary fails.

4. Whether you can use and move itrTokens are not offered in the United States or to U.S. persons. Other country and account limits apply. Deposits, withdrawals, redemption, and supported networks can also differ by token.

Dividends need a separate check too. Reality says eligible holders can receive dividend-related payments in stablecoins. Taxes, fees, timing, and account rules can reduce or delay what arrives.

rToken vs. Stock+ vs. a traditional broker

Bitget rToken

Token linked to stock economics, not direct share ownership

Trades against USDT, with selected weekend markets

Best for crypto-native users who accept extra counterparty risk

Bitget Stock+

Bitget says users hold real U.S. shares through licensed partners

Uses a separate securities account and U.S. market hours

Best for users who want a broker-style product inside Bitget

Traditional broker

Conventional beneficial share ownership

Usually offers deeper liquidity and standard tax records

Best when familiar ownership and regulation matter most

Stock+ is the closer match to a brokerage account. rTokens are the more crypto-native option. Neither should be chosen on branding alone; read the current terms for the exact account and country you will use.

Our verdict

Yes, rTokens can be worth using if your priority is keeping stock-price exposure inside a crypto account. The USDT order book and selected weekend markets solve a real convenience problem.

No, they are not the best default if you want the cleanest ownership rights, tax records, or investor protections. For most people who can easily use a reputable broker, the broker remains simpler.

The decision comes down to what you value more: crypto-native access or conventional ownership. Do not buy an rToken because the ticker looks familiar. Buy it only if you understand the extra companies, contracts, and market makers between you and the stock.

Before buying: compare the live rToken quote with the stock’s latest close, inspect the spread, and read the current token terms.

If you also want another view of the underlying company, use your preferred research platform or Token Metrics AI.

Sources

Bitget rToken product rules and eligibility

Bitget selected-token weekend trading list

Bitget Stock+ product information

Bitget fee schedule

Reality rToken legal and regulatory documentation

Reality Proof of Asset dashboard and disclaimer

Reviewed July 21, 2026.
